Introduction
Background
In november of 2005, I made a twelve-day trip to Syria, on my own. It was my second visit to Syria. An organized trip, in 1995, brought me to Syria (and Jordania) for the first time. I wanted to visit Syria again because I like the people very much. Syrians are friendly people. They are helpful and never obtrusive. Crime doesn't seem to exist in Syria. This all makes the country a very pleasant place to be.
