Dead Cities - Al-Bara (بارة)
Al-Bara is an enormous site. You can only experience it's size by trying to see everything. The site is divided in two by a road. It's difficult to visit the site because it is covered by bushes and one has to clamber the remains of walls and collapsed buildings. Top attractions here are two pyramid shaped tombs. The city of Al-Bara was the place where crusaders set out to conquer the city of Ma'arat al Numan, ending in the slaughtering of about 20,000 people and even cannibalism.
